About Us

Who are we?

What do we do?

Piclose provides scanning electron microscopy (SEM) as a service for businesses seeking to develop or improve their process and/or components in order to decrease defect rates and increase yield.

We employ a Phenom XL Desktop SEM to provide insights into process and component characteristics. Layer thickness, line profiles, photoresist defects, coating irregularities, presence or absence of voids, and feature pitch are just some the many characteristics we can extract with our analysis. Given the limited sample area of the Phenom XL SEM we currently process samples with maximum dimensions of 100 mm x 100 mm.

All work is performed by Piclose to provide a responsive feedback loop to help our customers save time and avoid jumping through hoops to get an answer. Some industries we assist fall in the nanotechnology, semiconductor, 3D printing, automotive, and MEMS industries.

At Piclose, our goal is to provide quantitative insights that provide the much needed answers to our customers’ critical questions and guidance for future improvement. We also seek to increase the use of scanning electron microscopy (SEM) for research and development of instrumental technologies and processes. We look to harness the potential of the scanning electron microscope to provide a thorough and engaging understanding of critical processes and parts. Additionally, we seek to engage in research and development of scanning electron microscopic technologies in order to employ scanning electron microscopy in novel ways and expand the field of industries it serves.
